Day 4

Another great day was had by all!  This morning we played a game that combined two classics: jeopardy and chair trivia.  This afternoon we played moshball, a soccer/handball/football game that exhausted all of us.  We can't wait to go skating tomorrow!

More pictures from today coming later this evening. More Pictures click here.

Day 3

Hey Parents!

This morning we surprised the chanichim with a special day that spanned the time between breakfast and lunch.  The program involved nagivating around the large property that we are staying at using only a satellite image map and a compass and competing challenges related to winter survival.

Chanichim were challenged to build a fire in the cold, fashion a functional stretcher using two broomsticks and two chultzot shomrit (blue camp shirt).  They were also faced with a logic challenge.  Try it for yourself: using only a 5 liter jug and a 3 Liter jug and as much water as you need from a nearby stream, what are two unique ways to measure exactly 4 liters?

I hope you managed to solve it! Your children were able to in seconds.

At the end, the teams had to use the materials they acquired to build a structure that would protect their egg from a three-story fall.  Amazingly, every egg survived!

The day was the first of its kind (in over 12 winter camps at this location) and it was a lot of fun for everyone involved.

You can see photos from today here.  Also, don’t forget to check out the daily videos by filmmaker/shaliach Carmi Daniel on the Hashomer Hatzair facebook group.

Were having so much fun and it’s a shame mosh choref is already half way done!

Day 2

Hey Parents!

Check out pictures from our second day here!

This morning after zman kvutza we had an interactive zman mosh that explored different interpretations of what justice means.  Afterwards, we put on our jackets and snowpants and headed outside for some fun in the snow.

After lunch we went out to the barn for several intense rounds of gaga.  During chugim, some chanichim chose to play floor hockey in the barn, others played some classic board games, and many chose to make artwork at the melechet yad (arts and crafts room).

Finally, sign-up sheets are now up for the annual air hockey, pool, ping-pong, and foosball tournaments that are optional and take place during menucha (free time).

Be sure to check back tomorrow for another update and more pictures.

Day 1

Hey Parents!

We wanted to let you know that we safely arrived at Two Rivers Conference Centre and are settling in nicely.  We had some delicious pizza and veggies and dip for lunch today and it’s been snowing all day!  Thank you all for getting to the ken on time and for helping us load the bus.

The zman mosh today was a scavenger hunt photo race where teams learned about Hashomer Hatzair and took photos of themselves which best represented the catch phrases they were given.  To see some of these pictures and others from throughout our first day, click here.

Each kvutza is having their first zman kvutza (group time) as I write this.  We’re also excited for a promising erev (evening activity) where the hadracha are performing an original play written by our Rosh Tarbut, Alyssa.

Check back here every day for new posts and photos of winter camp in action.

Until next time,

Mattan
